Let’s get started!
What is the Gospel Truth?
The word gospel means “good news.”
Truth is something that is “absolute and indisputable.”
The good news we are sharing is the “Good News of Jesus Christ!“
The Truth we are sharing is God’s Truth… “absolute and indisputable.“
God is the creator of the universe and the definition of “Truth.” Things are only true because He says they are. Many things are true, but there is only one “Truth,” God’s Truth.
It is the “Truth” that applies to everyone, whether they choose to believe it or not. Christianity is the most reasonable belief there is based on the historical and scientific facts available in the book of Genesis and the rest of the Bible, the inspired, inerrant Word of God and if you are a believer you have an obligation to share that “Truth” with non-believers who are lost, condemned, without hope and in need of a Savior. Faith in Jesus Christ is the one way and the only way to salvation.
So the purpose of The Gospel Truth App is to share God’s absolute and indisputable “Truth” of the Good News of Jesus Christ and it is the “Truth” that will set you free from the penalty of sin.
These “Truths“ contain the good news, but also some bad news, which makes the good news even more important.
First, the bad news...
When Adam, the first man of creation, disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, he brought sin and death into God’s perfect creation and passed on his sin nature to all of mankind. Therefore we are all sinners, with no exceptions, and fall short every day of God’s perfect standard of righteousness… His glory.
“Sin came into the world because of what one man (Adam) did, and with sin came death. This is why everyone must die —because everyone has sinned.” (Romans 5:12 EXB; emphasis added)
“Everyone (without exception) has sinned and fallen short [and is not worthy] of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23 EXB; emphasis added)
Because of God’s wrath and rightful judgment, the penalty for sin is death (physical and spiritual) and eternal punishment.
“For the wages of sin (the price that sin pays) is death…” (Romans 6:23 NIV; emphasis added)
Because of sin everyone’s eternal destiny has already been determined…condemned to Hell when they die where along with all of God’s enemies they will be tormented day and night without ceasing, forever and ever. It is permanent and irreversible. This is God’s rightful judgment for sin. But it doesn’t have to happen. Your eternal destiny can be changed, it must be changed, but it can only be changed by the the blood of Jesus. He has already done His part. The rest is up to you and the Holy Spirit.
All sinners must pay the penalty for their own sin unless someone pays the penalty for them. But God’s justice required that the substitute for man be a sinless human, because if the substitute had sinned, his death would only pay the penalty for his own sins. There was not one perfect, sinless human who could be that substitute…
But the Good News is this…
God, the Creator of the universe who makes the rules and sets the standards in the world He created, the one true God and the only living God, loves you so much that even before you were born and yet already cursed with sin, sent His Son Jesus to be that sinless human substitute for all of mankind and to die on a cross, once for all, to pay the penalty for your sins so you wouldn’t have to. Let this sink in… God Himself died so you wouldn’t have to. Jesus was God incarnate, which means God in human form, both God and man… truly God and truly human and the only human ever born who did not sin.
Jesus was also the only human who was not born of the seed of Adam and therefore not cursed with the sin nature as all others, including you, were and are, making Him the only person who could pay the penalty for the sins of all, because He never sinned. Only God Himself could do that and He did it for you.
His death to pay the penalty for other men’s sin would never have to be repeated. Once Jesus gave His life, it would apply to all mankind for all time! And He did it for one reason, His love for you. There is no greater love than this.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, and whoever believes in Him should not perish (die) but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 ESV; emphasis added)
“But God clearly shows and proves His own love for you, by the fact that while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you.” (Romans 5:8 AMP; emphasis added)
And when God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day and He walked out of that tomb, everyone had righteousness set to their account, which would make them right and acceptable to God and grant them eternal life in Heaven.
“… but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NIV)
But God’s righteousness does not become yours until you choose to accept His free gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ by accepting Him as your Savior, receiving Him as your Lord (God) and making Him the Master of your life.
“Because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God and that He is the Lord and master of your life], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10 AMP; emphasis added)
Your earthly and eternal lives will be instantly and forever changed.
The theme of The Gospel Truth App revolves around the word “salvation” and you answering “yes” to one simple, eternal life changing question.
“Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 14:12; emphasis added)
Jesus Christ is our hope… our living hope… our only hope:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.“ (1 Peter 1:3-5 NIV)
The “Truth” is… there is simply no solution for the human problem of sin and its punishment outside the grace of God and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
You don’t have to believe that and nobody can make you believe it, but you have no excuse and there are eternal consequences for not doing so.
The eternal life changing question is:
“Are you saved by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ?“
“For it is by (God’s) grace that you have been saved through faith (in Jesus Christ). And this is not your own doing (you didn’t do anything to deserve it); it is the (free) gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8 ESV; emphasis added)
You can be saved only by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is the one and only thing you absolutely must do in this life to change your eternal destiny.
Let’s breakdown Ephesians 2:8
(“For it is by (God’s) grace that you have been saved”) Grace is God’s unmerited favor for you which means that because of His love and mercy, He gives you what you need (a Savior) and not what you deserve (death and punishment). It is God’s grace that draws you to faith and repentance in Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit.
(“Saved”) Salvation means you are set free from the penalty of God’s wrath (a just and powerful anger because of sin) and His rightful judgment (the eternal punishment for sin) only because of what Christ did for you through His death and resurrection.
(“Through faith”) Faith is the belief, trust and complete confidence in who Jesus is and what He has done for you.
Salvation comes only by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
“Maybe” is not an option for this important question. Answer either “yes or no.” You are either “saved” and you know that you know that you know you are saved OR you are “not saved” and still “lost,” without faith in Christ, condemned and without hope. Who wants to be that person? Well, you are (we all are) unless and until and only if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and make Him the Master of your life. There are eternal consequences already in place for not doing that and eternity is a long, long time to be wrong. Don’t be wrong. Remember, Jesus is your only hope.
Is your answer “yes” or is it “no”?
We’ll return to this important question later, but first let’s look at 12 absolute and indisputable “Truths” that bring this all together for your understanding.
