What is Grace?

“For by grace you have been saved…
— (Ephesians 2:8–9)

  • Grace is God’s unmerited favor for you.
  • By His grace God gives you what you need, a Savior, Jesus Christ, and not what you deserve, death, separation from God and eternal punishment.

The Biblical Definition of Grace

“But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
— (Titus 3:4–7)

Grace is a demonstration of God’s mercy which is fresh every day (Lamentations 3:22–23), His goodness, and unchanging character. It is a favor freely bestowed upon those who are totally unable to return the favor.

Grace in Action

  • It is God’s grace that draws you to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit
  • It is His grace you receive when you are born again
  • It is His grace that sustains you every day

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
— (2 Corinthians 12:9)

The weaker we are, the more clearly God’s grace shines forth. His grace is not only the beginning of your salvation—it is the strength for your journey until He calls you home.
