7) There is a Heaven and a Hell and Nothing Else

[Truth 7 of 12; 3 minute read]

The Bible teaches that everyone will spend eternity either in a place where God is or a place where God is not. The place you will spend eternity is determined only by whether or not you have accepted God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Heaven and Hell are real, no matter whether you to choose to believe it or deny it. The “Truth” is what God says it is. If He says it is True, then what everybody else says is false. One thing is for sure, Truth… absolute and indisputable… you (and everyone) will know for sure that there is a Heaven or a Hell immediately when you die…and that day is coming for everyone!

In fact, if the unsaved living knew what the unsaved dead know, the whole world would follow Jesus.

Heaven is God’s perfect eternal place and Hell is the place prepared for those who rebel against God. In the book of Revelation, Hell is called the Lake of Fire. It is not a place where sinners go to continue their sin and evil forever. It is the “grim fate of the wicked,” a place of never-ending fiery torment; an eternal fire of burning sulfur (brimstone) prepared for the Devil, his angels and all the enemies of God. And Satan won’t be the leader of those in Hell. He will just be a participant like all of the enemies of God. Hell is everybody’s destination without faith in Jesus Christ.

Seek God’s “Truth” because eternity is a long, long time to be wrong.

The New Heaven and the New Earth

“Then I (John) saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away (vanished), and there is no longer any sea And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, arrayed like a bride adorned for her husband; and I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! The tabernacle of God (Jesus) is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be there with them and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:1-4)

We cannot even imagine the splendor of Heaven that awaits those who love the Lord,
as it is written [in Scripture],

Things which the eye has not seen and the ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, who obey Him, and who gratefully recognize the benefits that He has bestowed].” (1 Corinthians 2:9 AMP)

The book of Revelation describes the new creation that will one day replace the universe as a place without decay, death, or cause for grief or frustration.

The descriptive details imply that neither gravity nor electromagnetism will exist there like it does here. The physics and dimensionality of the new creation will be radically different from the laws and dimensions governing the present universe. With evil forever gone, God, who spoke the universe into existence will speak it out of existence with fire and replace it with a new heaven and a new earth, known as the holy city, another name for New Jerusalem, the future home of the Church; a realm that includes unlimited relationships, intimacy, love, pleasure and fulfillment. (adapted from the writings of Hugh Ross, Reasons to Believe; reasons.org)

“But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will vanish with a [mighty and thunderous] roar, and the [material] elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and the works that are on it will be burned up.” (2 Peter 3:10 AMP)

And when Jesus comes back for His final judgment, everybody who ever lived will know and finally acknowledge the Truth:

“God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him [Jesus] the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord [sovereign God], to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:9-11 AMP)

Those whose names were not written in the citizenship register of Heaven (The Book of Life) are condemned to die again, the second death, and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. (adapted from the writings of Kendall H. Easley)

Do you know without a doubt that your name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life and will spend eternity in that holy city?
