9) The Good News of Jesus Christ!

(6 minute read; 1050 words)

God’s Plan of Redemption

There was no sin or evil in the world until Lucifer and his fallen angels rebelled against God, and then the first man—Adam—chose to disobey God’s command. God knew Adam would sin, but His perfect plan already included redemption. This plan, set in place before time began, would restore the relationship with God that mankind had broken—through the death and resurrection of His Son.

The Offer of Salvation

Salvation comes to those who repent and believe in their heart the truths of the Gospel.

God— the Creator of the universe and everything in it— loves you so much that, almost 2,000 years before you were born, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to do what only He could do:

  • He become the sinless human substitute that God’s justice required.
  • He suffered, bled, and died on the cross once for all to pay the penalty for your sins and deliver you from this present evil age.
  • He died to restore the broken relationship between God and humanity.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — (Romans 5:8)

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” — (John 3:16)

The Great Exchange

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”2 Corinthians 5:21

God’s righteousness is His perfect, unchanging nature that balances justice and mercy. In Christ, we exchange our sin for His righteousness.

There is no other “god” who loved sinful man enough to die for him—and then be raised from the dead to give him life.

The Victory Over Death

Let this sink in… the Creator of the cosmos was born of a woman, lived a sinless life, and willfully died on the cross to save you from sin and evil. God Himself died for your sins so you wouldn’t have to.

“…that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” — (Hebrews 2:14–15)

For the believer, “Death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54). The fear of death is broken. Eternal life begins the moment you are saved.

He Is Risen!

On the third day, God raised Jesus from the dead and He walked out of that tomb—granting eternal life to all born again believers who put their faith and trust in Him.
The resurrection demonstrates Christ’s victory over sin and death, providing the foundation for the promise of eternal life. By conquering death, Jesus rendered Satan powerless against all who are saved.

It is simply not possible to mistake a man who was raised from the dead.

As believers—those who have been born twice—we will also be resurrected when Christ returns.

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
— (John 11:25)

The Order of Resurrection

“But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”

— (1 Corinthians 15:20–22)

  • Christ was the first to be raised with an incorruptible, immortal body
  • His resurrection foreshadows those of believers when He returns
  • In Adam, all die — in Christ, all who put their faith and trust in Him will be made alive

Why the Resurrection Matters

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event in human history.
It is the foundation of our hope for eternal life.

Paul wrote:

“And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!”
— (1 Corinthians 15:17)

But Christ is risen — and because of this:

  • It proves that Christianity is true and every other religion is not.
  • Jesus proved He was God, fulfilling prophecy and His own predictions.
  • Sin and death have been conquered forever.

The Unchanging Truth

Jesus is our hope, our living hope, our only hope, in this lost world. Thank you Lord Jesus!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…”

— (1 Peter 1:3–5)

Your Choice — and Its Cost

You don’t have to believe this, but if you have heard the Good News and reject it:

  • You have no excuse.
  • You remain condemned.
  • You are literally choosing to forfeit your soul for eternity.

“Whatever is the object for which men forsake Christ, that is the price at which Satan buys their souls. Yet one soul is worth more than all the world.” — Matthew Henry Commentary

No object, no sin, no temporary pleasure is worth the eternal price that must be paid for them… your soul.

The One Way, The Only Way

God offers redemption to every person who believes. The price was fully paid by Jesus on the cross.
To receive it requires:

  • A complete surrender to Christ.
  • Genuine repentance; turning from sin and to God.
  • Saving faith in who Jesus is and what He has done for you.

When Jesus said “I am the way” He was saying He is THE way for those who are lost. He is the ONE way, the ONLY way to salvation. Without Him you remain “lost” and condemned.

There is no other way to be saved!

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
— (Acts 4:12)

This is the ultimate purpose of the incarnation: Jesus came to earth to die. By dying, He was able to conquer death in His resurrection.

Jesus Himself promised:

“Because I live, you will live also.” — (John 14:19)

By His grace God gives us what we need, a Savior, Jesus Christ, and not what we deserve, death and eternal punishment.
